Rooibos

Type:
Tagline:

Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) grows on a highly diverse & designated eco-system in the provinces of South Africa.  The leaves of this herbal offer a unique, rich flavor with notes of citrus and vanilla.  Also popularly known as Red Bush its leaves are oxidized creating its bright red coloration.

Interesting facts about this tisane.  It cups bright red due to oxidization.  There is a green Rooibos variety, not oxidized, offering more malty flavors. Rooibos has a very high antioxidant content.  A relaxing and refreshing beverage as it has no caffeine.

Taste profile.   Offers light notes of citrus and vanilla.  It also has a taste similar to hibiscus flower and in a longer steep, an earthy flavor.

Steeping suggestions. Approximately one teaspoon or 3-4 grams per 8 ounces of water at boiling temperature.  Steep for 3 minutes and taste.  It can steep longer for more body and flavor and will not become astringent.

  2. Excellent rooibos 4 Star Review

This tastes just like the rooibos I drank while in South Africa. It's very good with honey and with or without milk. The vanilla notes are nice. I wouldn't mind it a bit stronger.
