Native to Anhui Province, this high-grade Keemun is often characterized as the Burgundy of teas due to its dark rust-brown cup color and complex, winey flavor. We think this tea has the body and flavor to satisfy. Good with food and always a refreshing cup.
This smoked tea is a specialty of Fujian Province. A quite famous tea that is made by withering leaves over open fires of fresh pine logs. Made in the WuYi Mountains, these long, black strips of leaf have a taste that is decidedly smoky, robust and a little biscuit and cups to a rich, rust-red liquor. We chose a lot that is not overly smoky but is hearty and rich and should satisfy. Goes well with breakfast, salty and spicy dishes, cheese and will warm one in colder weather.
A black leaf flavored with the freshly squeezed juices of the Lychee fruit. Made in Fujian Province. tea from Fujian Province, this tea is sweet, very fragrant and quite delicious both as a hot beverage and as an iced tea. The flavor is perfume lite and pleasing. It is very refreshing and goes well with food. As an iced tea, it is a real treat.
This Golden Monkey is made in the "Pang Yong Congou" style, a rare "family" of black teas that are produced in a village on the coast of Fujian Province. Tan Yang village is known for producing very high-grade, fragrant black teas, yet only a small portion of the tea produced here is actually made to black. Green has been the primary tea. Our "monkey" is a fine plucking, note the very delicate black leaf and gold buds. The taste is refined with nuanced with notes of malt and fruit.
A high-grade Mao Feng leaf has been rolled into a shiny small pearl and oxidized to a deep brown color. The result is an unusual and rare Fujian Province black tea that is softly aromatic, offering a touch of smokiness and a light, naturally sweet finish. Cup color is a rich red and clean. Our lot is very well made, the craftsmanship is apparent. This style of black tea was once quite common but in recent years has become rare as the processing of the leaf is quite difficult.
Sweet and thirst-quenching, our Yunnan Black is husky in aroma and fruity-spicy in taste. Traditional in style, this lot is made with large, thick dayeh leaves with an ample amount of distinctive golden buds to yield an excellent morning or afternoon beverage. Definitely on the tippy side, this encourages plenty of sweetness from a cup that will show a brilliant red color. Nuanced and full bodied, exceptionally creamy and smooth, this is a tea to enjoy every day. This tea can take milk and sugar. Note, it also makes a very refreshing iced tea.
Our organic Yunnan "Hong Cha" (like our traditional style) has a husky aroma and the taste is full bodied. The leaves are from a characteristically thick Yunnan varietal that we favor, speckled with golden buds giving the cup sweet, creamy and malty notes. This tea will cup to a rusty red color, offering a thirst-quenching sweetness at the finish. Excellent breakfast or afternoon beverage. It can take milk and sugar.
Our lot is made of curled thick golden leaves that cup to a distinctive, reddish liquor with a wonderful spicy and creamy-sweet flavor. This black or "red" tea is made from an indigenous varietal, Dayeh, a large-leaf tea tree found to Yunnan Province. The leaves are strikingly golden-brown in color, the cup is spicy and sweet and thirst quenching. This is a refreshing, full-flavored tea that is good most anytime. This tea can take milk.
Delicate green tea leaves are handsewn with silken thread and joined with 3 white Chrysanthemum flowers to create a celebration of tea. The flowers are scented with a hint of Magnolia flower to add a very subtle taste to this high-grade green tea. Made by artisans in Anhui Province, it is a perfect compliment to a meal or a celebration. Approximately 20 pieces to a quarter pound. Steep in a glass vessel for viewing, water 185-195 degrees, for 3-4 minutes.
Tea artisans in Anhui Province have carefull sewn green tea leaves with silken thread into the shape of a resting flower. Once steeped, a cluster of green leaves open and form a base for a white Lotus flower. The visual effect is dramatic and the tea is naturally sweet and robust. Steep for 3-4 minutes in water of 185-195 degrees in a sturdy glass vessel.
