A mix of mountain grown Oolong varietals - Mei Zhan, Shui Xian, Jin Xuan, Mao Xie and Rou Gui - are processed to a black tea. This is a regional style black not often found outside the area encompassing the WuYi Mountains. The tea maker has worked the leaves to a spicy, very rich taste that is unusually nuanced with layers of flavor. A light cup color with a fine bouquet, this tea offers hints of cinnamon, bergamot, wine and a touch of natural sweetness. It will warm and satisfy.
Our organic Yunnan "Hong Cha" (like our traditional style) has a husky aroma and the taste is full bodied. The leaves are from a characteristically thick Yunnan varietal that we favor, speckled with golden buds giving the cup sweet, creamy and malty notes. This tea will cup to a rusty red color, offering a thirst-quenching sweetness at the finish. Excellent breakfast or afternoon beverage. It can take milk and sugar.
Our lot is made of curled thick golden leaves that cup to a distinctive, reddish liquor with a wonderful spicy and creamy-sweet flavor. This black or "red" tea is made from an indigenous varietal, Dayeh, a large-leaf tea tree found to Yunnan Province. The leaves are strikingly golden-brown in color, the cup is spicy and sweet and thirst quenching. This is a refreshing, full-flavored tea that is good most anytime. This tea can take milk.
Sweet and thirst-quenching, this Yunnan Black is husky in aroma and fruity-spicy in taste. Traditional in style, this lot is made with large, thick dayeh leaves with an ample amount of distinctive golden buds to yield an excellent morning or afternoon beverage. Definitely on the tippy side, this encourages plenty of sweetness from a cup that will show a brilliant red color. Nuanced and full bodied, exceptionally creamy and smooth, this is a tea to enjoy every day. This tea can take milk and sugar. Note, it also makes a very refreshing iced tea.
