Welcome to Silk Road Teas, your source for rare and artisan teas.
Silk Road Teas was founded over 17 years ago. Our Company is widely recognized as a purveyor of artisan and rare teas from China. We source many of our teas through extensive travel in the tea-rich southeastern provinces. Through our travels and long-standing supplier relationships, our company has a knowledge of specialty teas and sources of supply that is unusual outside China's borders. Our supplier relationships are the basis of our business today. As well, these relationships allow us to source high grades of tea, teas that typically do not leave China and are often unavailable and largely unknown to western tea drinkers.
The teas we offer have been grown and processed by artisans of the leaf and are usually single origin and often handmade. We buy our teas at markets, small farms, and through selected specialty tea companies, ensuring that these teas are of the highest quality and offer taste characteristics that are unusual and delicious. As a result, our customers enjoy China's competition-grade teas, teas that otherwise are consumed domestically. Each year, we travel in the provinces of Fujian, Anhui, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Hunan, Yunnan and Guangxi to find the teas we offer to you.
It is our belief the best tea is harvested early in the season when the days are beginning to warm and the nights are cool. In that harvest window, the leaves are fresh and tender and offer a nuanced taste that will soon soften and fade. Once picked, our teas are not blended and we preserve these unique small lots for our customers' enjoyment. Increasingly, we are sourcing certified organic teas to complement our traditionally grown teas. Upon purchase, our teas are handled by our Chinese partners, who carefully prepare them for shipment to ensure their freshness and quality.
Silk Road Teas is both a wholesale and retail tea company. We sell to purveyors of high-end tea throughout the United States and Canada. Many of our teas are sold under the label of other quality tea companies as we do not brand and package our teas. Further, we have a large and loyal retail customer base, people who regularly call us and order teas direct or use our Web-based services. We encourage these relationships and enjoy talking with our customers about tea. We deeply appreciate our customers and work to provide them a great cup each and every time. Today, Silk Road Teas can also be found in quality retail outlets that feature a bulk tea sales format as well as tea shops, restaurants and cafes throughout the U.S.
