“King Red” is grown and produced in the Quimen area of Anhui Province. Mountainous and replete with fresh water, Keemun is made from the “Zhuye” varietal. Its' leaves are cut thin and, with oxidization, its' oils combine to give this black tea a distinct sweetness and aroma. Its liquor is a right red, claret-like, with a pleasing bouquet. Our lot is “gonfu” or “congou” grade as it has been made with disciplined skill keeping the thin leaves intact. It is recognized as a superb breakfast tea, often served under the name English Breakfast offering full-bodied, mellow flavors to the palate with hints of smoke and some hints of fruit in the finish. A well-made lot, it offers fragrant, nuanced tastes with a finish that will linger and warm. Excellent with toast, spicy foods, as a digestive, it also serves well as a refreshing cup anytime of the day. For those that prefer it, Keemuns can take milk and sugar. Lot #32

Supporting adults with disabilities
Silk Road Teas is more than just tea. We are committed to giving back to our community by providing jobs packaging our teas to disabled adults. As the older brother of a disabled person, Ned Heagerty, Silk Road Teas President, recognized the challenges and limited opportunities disabled adults face. So he wanted to make a difference. It is a small step, but it is an action we believe in and will continue to follow. Recently, we were honored by receiving the Employer of the Year Award from Integrated Community Services (ICS) for our commitment to employ persons with disabilities.
