Hojicha is a distinctive green tea. It is made using stems from a Sencha cultivar and then roasting them at high temperaures to create an infusion with a light-to-reddish-brown appearance and a nutty fragrance. These beautifully uniform stems are traditionally roasted in porcelain over charcoal. Delicately sweet, Hojicha is served warm for comfort, is great with food, and iced for refreshment.

Lot Notes. Our lot is roasted Sencha stems. Stems are uniform in cut creating its very pleasing appearance. Stems are from production in May 2024. Flavors are distinct, woodsy, and roasted sweet.

Tea Facts. Stems are from Sencha ichibana harvest. Farm elevation approximately 250 meters. Caffeine level is considered to be low due to its high temperature firing.

Taste Profile. Aroma is a nutty fragrance. Infused Hojicha offers woody, roasted, nutty sweet flavors. The sweet notes hint at a caramel-like flavour.

Brewing Suggestions. Use 3-5 grams per 5-8 ounces of water with a temperature right up to boiling. Infuse for 2-2.5 minutes and taste. Offers multiple steeps.
